Show notes

  • It’s Friday Night. You’re in a 4 player competition bowling game. The finest bowling game made. CHAMPIONSHIP BOWLING
  • NES Longplay
  • Introductions
    • When you play these retro games, when modern ones exist. It’s hard not to compare. Wii Bowling is the perfect bowling game. Championship Bowling is gonna take a lot of work
  • Overview
    • It’s bowling. Is bowling enough to suck you in?
    • You can choose your player - handedness is all that changes
    • You can choose your ball - weight
    • You can choose your lane
  • Gameplay
    • Control and Power Meters
      • Control should imply much more spin on the ball than it does
    • Find the “strikezone” and stick with it
    • The animations
    • Inability to reposition
    • If you’re not good at this game, they have a pretty damn High Score requirement just to get on the board
  • Sequels and Spinoffs
    • Championship Bowling GENESIS
      • Not the same developer or publisher
      • The game includes three different play modes: standard bowling; spare mode, where a handful of pins are placed with the goal being to pick up a spare; and bonus mode, where specific pins are worth different amounts of points.
    • Championship Bowling XBOX
      • The only funny thing I have to say about this game is that it looks as bad as those wacky animations that play in real bowling alleys
    • BOWLING on PS1
      • No fun title, the cover art is just a picture of 10 real pins. No characters to choose or see. Just hilariously low effort
