055 - ELEVATOR ACTION
OUR THOUGHTS
MIKE
What a truly bizarre game from SNK. Not exactly the way I expected them to enter the NES scene. This game feels downright bootleg at times. On the outside it has some neat concepts about weapons and armor and combat, but on the other hand I can’t help but feel like this game translates into a really poorly made Super Mario Bros. clone with weapons. I commented about this on the show, but the graphics just don’t translate well from Arcade to NES. I never had a chance to play the arcade version (I’d like to change that), but I’m curious to see how much jank is from the port or if the game was always the way it is presented on the NES.
THE VERDICT - NOT ESSENTIAL
