OUR THOUGHTS
MIKE
I expected more from The Legend of Kage. It tried to be heavy on action, it tries to tell a story, it tries to make you feel like a ninja…but at the end of the day none of it feels complete. The biggest problem, rightfully so, is the gameplay. Control of the character is basic enough (run in a direction, shoot your shurikens), but registration of these moves as well as their interaction with the environment make the game feel really sloppy. I can’t help but just hold the left button as my character runs across the screen and spam my attack knowing full well that an enemy is likely to just run into it. I’m not saying the game is too easy, there are times where frankly I’m not even sure what to do next. I think this game missed a level polish on it’s way over to the NES and it’s sorely missed.
